weekend events

I went to visit a friend in the hospital a couple of times this past weekend. I was shocked to hear about all the snafu's (old military term for goof-ups) that had happened. Doctors with different opinions, nurses coming in to do something that had already been done, thinking he was someone else. The excuse given him was that there were substitue nurses and doctors working. Good news is, nothing bad actually happened. I was comparing that with my experience in a different hospital. As I remember nothing like that happened to me, but I will admit I wasn't always aware of what was happening. I do know neither Carol or my sons who were there mentioned anything like that and they were watching for such things. Maybe it was because I was in a much more specialized area, the heart monitoring section.
The medical field appears to in need of more workers, I wonder if it is only going to get worse as the baby boomers get older and need more medical help? Anyone looking for a new career?

God is good - all the time

Great things have happened since I last posted. We have a new grandson named Adam Todd born Thursday 10-13. He and mother are doing fine. Now I have to change my intro. We have begun receiving help from friends and other believers we don't even know. It is very humbling to have to ask for help, but awesome to see people show God's love toward you. The power of God was also evidenced Sunday morning when a friend decided he had been gone too long from God's family and acknowledged his wrong. The love of God was also shown by the family welcoming him back. God is good - all the time.

A little(?) stressful

The last few days have been a little(?) stressful.
On the personal front: We have been deciding how best to handle my medical bills. The hospital while a great medical facility and providing great care is difficult to deal with on the financial end. Due to the help of many friends I think we will be able to make the required monthly payments.
On the church front: It is interesting since we have begun encouraging members to use their gifts on their own instead of in a set "church program", some have begun complaining that "we aren't doing anything," and that "people are just doing things without concern for others." Our goal is to release people from the constrictions of programs and always feeling like they have to ask permission to do something. It seemed that in the past our programs forced people into roles or jobs their didn't necessarily like or were good at. Now we are facing the other extreme of "we aren't doing anything" but people are, it is just not broadcast. Admittedly it takes a change in mindset to go from being told what to do and having to come up with what to do on your own. Hopefully with enough encouragement our group will survive the change.

The envelope didn't break

From Over the Hill
Sunday's meeting went really well. We had almost 50% of the people particpate in some form or other including the discussion. I know this is only possible because we have a small group about 75 but it is still encouaging to see people involved.
