I am thankful God has let me live long enough to learn that relationships are the most important part of life. Now I am trying to live that way. I am not always sucessful but I am improving.

Let the Music Flow

We watched "August Rush" last night, I know it has been out for a while, but we rarely go to the theater any more. It may be the best movie I have watched this year. It is definitely in the top three. The way the plot is told through music was so impressive. Music truly is all around us if we would stop and listen. This is an impressive statement coming from a very unmusical person. But I like music and I am touched by the sounds.

Oh, to stop and listen and look, there is so much we are missing. We are just too busy, too much to do. God's concept of Sabbath rest would benefit all of us, even if we had to parceled it out through the week.

Just a thought, what makes something "a have to"?

Simple BUT powerful word

.
This picture was taken from our front porch on a Monday. Just by looking at it, you would guess it was taken sometime last winter, but that was not the case. I took it yesterday April 21. Welcome to spring time in Wyoming, but I am not complaining because last year at this time we had 2 feet of snow, that's right feet not inches.

Another but is this Lands'End catalog we just received featuring swim suits and I am putting on two layers of clothes just to stay warm.
This is one of the few times I could almost (just almost) wish Al Gore was right about Global Warming, which he is not at least to the extent he teaches.

The use of "but" usually entails a disagreement or disappointment with the current situation or statement being made. It is often used when we want to avoid doing something or changing an opinion, not a good usage.

I like the way Peter used "but" in Luke 5:4-5. His usage is a positive one - I don't want to do what you say, but I will because you say it.

I guess I am easily impressed with word usage, but I will stop here.

A sure sign of Spring

This past Monday I took my bike out for a ride, or should I say my bike took me for a ride, or I took a ride on my bike. Oh well, I had a good time. It was a bit cool at 65 mph, but okay as I didn't ride too long at a stretch. By way of explanation this picture was from last summer. This weekend is supposed to be even nicer (we will see).

Reading over my first sentence explains why I think we have such trouble communicating with each other. I know what I meant to said, but each of those phrases carries a different meaning. Too often, offenses are taken when none is intended. Are we just always expecting a criticism or an abuse to come our way, so no matter what is said I take offense. I would think if we know the love of God and are returning it - in part - by loving others we would assume a good intent until proven otherwise. That sounds like a good idea (if I do say so myself) and I will work on thinking that way.

Disappointed but still Enjoying It

Well, the semifinals were a bit of a disappointment. None of the teams I picked made it to the finals which is okay as I wasn't cheering for any of them especially since Duke was gone. I was surprised that the games weren't as close as you might have expected. With the four number 1 seeds playing I certainly wasn't expecting losses by double digits no matter who won.

I am thankful to CBS (something I never thought I would say) for putting them on the Internet. We hooked up our computer to a new LCD TV I borrowed from the store and we had as good of reception as with our old analog TV with cable. There are benefits to working at a store that sells TVs and a boss that likes sports.

Here's hoping Monday's night game will be more exciting and not another blow out. I will miss getting to see Kevin Love and Tyler Hasbrough go at it. They both played well but basketball is still a team game and that is why Davidson didn't make it.

Get out the Cokes and chips Monday night finals is almost here.
