Joy of Grandparenting

This Memorial day was spent trying to keep up with an almost three year old and an easier 7 month old. Both of them are very active for their age. Adam the younger one isn't quite up to crawling yet, he does some rocking though and talks a lot. Griffin the older one just goes a 100 miles a minute and talks all the time too. Griffin was really into tractors on this trip. We went to visit friends who live in the country and farm. I was surprised that a tractor held more interest than a new born foal only 14 hours old. Carol and I are very proud of the good job Blake and Kim are doing with the kids. They displayed a lot of patience, even though they don't think so. The joys of grandparenting include playing with the kids until they get tired or stinky and then handing them back to the parents.

Forgotten Keys

A few days ago my wife was cleaning off a bar between the kitchen and dining room. It usually has a wide variety stuff stack on it, some vital to the everyday operation of our family and some just junk we haven't gotten around to throwing away yet. The point of this saga is that she found a set of keys. We have no idea whose they are. It seems strange that no one has called about the missing keys.

I am sure there is a spiritual application here, such as "what's missing in your life, or God is missing and you don't realize it, etc." What preacher could pass up a good story like this? My problem has been that I have to many applications and as soon I start to develop, one another slightly different idea pops-up.

So I will leave it up you. Make your own application.

A new adventure

I have heard that keeping your mind active and learning new skills will slow the aging process at least for your mind. Well, I am trying out this theory. This week my job changed from just a mattress salesman to selling major appliances, wood furniture, and some TV's. I have moved from the Cody store to the store in Powell. This store carries everything including beds. For a small town, our store does quite well. We carry Whirlpool, GE, Maytag, Frigidaire, Amana brands of washers and dryers, refrigerators, stoves and dishwashers. All items I have to learn the features to.

I am also exploring new thoughts on being a disciple of Jesus. This is truly a challenging time for me but also a very interesting time. Some people I know have become angry, discouraged, withdrawn, (pick a negative adjective) when they started challenging some of their lifelong held traditions, to me it just made me more committed to God.

This is a good time and God is good.
