What does God do with evil?

I am reading a very intriguing book. I am not very far into the book yet but one characteristic of the book I like is that it has yet to offer simplistic answers to complex questions. The author has promised to give some answers but they probably will be the kind that require me to ponder and think in order to understand them.

Thinking about it isn't that what Jesus did with the parables. He posed situations and then gave conclusions that were not readily oblivious.

I am getting better at looking at God's word not as a simple list of orders of "do this and don't do that" but as the story of God and his relationship with people. An amazing part the story is that He invites us to join Him and be involved with Him in the story.
